Common Name(s):  Toadflax, baby snapdragon, Moroccan toadflax, spurred snapdragon

Height: 8 to 15 inches

Soil Conditions: Moist, well-drained soil

Sun: Full sun/partial shade

Soil pH Conditions: 5.5-6.5

 

Notes: This striking blanket of flowers should not be confused with its relative Linaria vulgaris, which  is a wildflower variety that is considered invasive.

Best use: Mass plantings, containers, and rock gardens.

Starting Linaria from Seed

Though you can attempt to start from seed indoors, wildflowers often perform best when broadcast directly into the garden from seed.  Sow seeds in a prepared garden bed by mixing sand with the  seed to help to distribute it easily.  Lightly compress the seeds into the soil with a seed roller.

Linaria will grow under a variety of soil conditions, but performs best in fertile soil.
